Welcome to The Australian & New Zealand Surf Film Archive

Thank you all for being one of the first to sign up.

Our goal is to find, scan, and restore all the Australian and New Zealand Surf Film Footage we can find, including the never-seen-before offcuts and unused reels. There are so many great clips already lined up and we’ll drop a new one every few days. Hope you enjoy what you have seen so far!

This is a massive project. We estimate it will take 12-18 months to scan and restore the footage, but it should be a community project and we plan to keep it free for everyone. To do this we are going to run a crowdfunding campaign in the next month or two and you can help.

Please invite anyone you think would like to join the archive. If we work as a community, and everyone chips in as they can, we can make this archive something beautiful to share with our children and future generations.

You know who they are; the surf lovers, the locals, the brands, the magazines, the shapers, the pro surfers, the industry titans. Anyone who loves the ocean and our surf culture. The teaser below is a great way to show how cool the archive is going to be.

Please share as widely as you can. Those originators aren’t getting any younger and the film stock, which is up to 60 years old, is started to degrade. Now is the time.

Thanks so much,
